More of Appenzell, Switzerland....

Some pictures of us when we visited the small mountain village of Appenzell. The old train bridge had mountains of chopped wood and kindling under the tresses and we were wondering why no one stole any of it. Apparently it has been chopped for the people of the town and you just take what you need and leave a donation in the little box off to the side. The same goes in the summer that if you have a flower garden or vegetable garden you just have a donation box and if someone cuts a few flowers or takes some raspberries from your bush they donate in the box. It is all on the honour system here. (Lianne)

The photo of Mike in the hat is the traditional hat of the sheep herders. Mike has taken on some extra work while we`re here to pay for groceries! (Lianne)
